What a stunning picture! I'm glad I decided to mosey into the critiquable section.

The straight planes of the photo are in such contrast to the model's body, and his interesting tattoos. His gaze is so pierceing! Thats what brought me to this piece to start with. It seems so natural, as if he was just sitting there and you took this. The contrasting brightness against is fair skin, the lines against his body are such a draw in.

The only thing that is distracting in this piece is the plant to the right side. Perhaps it wouldn't have been as natural looking as it is but to me it seems as though it would have been more of a statement to have just the model with all his curves and softness against such a geometrical background.

The trees in the background, though, being very bright but in very soft focas, are great against the model giving him a sort of halo effect.

It's just the plant that seems to distract from the model.

Continue doing such wonderful photography!

oh well thanks very much!

i see you pretty much understand my photography and what i was after that shoot.

the thing with the plant... youre right! though i thought its kind of a repetion indoor of the trees outside, aand most importantly:
the equilibrium within the image and its color-composition...
there is pretty much white or bright colours in the left wich lift the image upwards... kind of.. and the plant resembles one of the only parts in the image composition where there is true black. so it undoes the effect the bright colours have and gets it all into a balance. sorta...
otherwise the image would shift downwards in the right...
so thats why it may never have bothered me coz i kind of knew it subconsciously...

but nevertheless you are right when you say it distracts from the model...
he deserves better! so thats why i give it another shot tomorrow! ;)

thanks for you critique!!! im always happy to see someone writing critiques on what i do!! :) makes me know someone really took a look at it! :)

Oohhhh, I see what you mean by the balance and the repetition. I never thought about that. But wouldn't the staircase rails and the shadows of the model be the black part? Not that I'm trying to undermine you, just making a suggestion, but I can see what you mean.

Oh... I hope your not redoing the shoot because of me. D:

You're welcome!
